A good friend of mine (Hi Cat!) expressed that she’d like to start reading, but had no idea where to start since she hadn’t really read much in the past. So I’m going to suggest a couple of easy reads for you to dig your nose into, and hopefully I can convince you to read a thing!
I hate it when I’m bored, so I pick up a book to get un-bored, and then I end up getting even more bored. And it’s not always the fault of the book I’m reading – it’s more of the mood that I’m in. I think the best way to combat this is to read something exciting, something that really pulls you in and doesn’t let go – and my recommendation is…
Six of Crows
What’s more exciting than a heist? I’ve gushed on about this book previously in my review and I will continue to because this book/series is AWESOME. It’s one of those books that should definitely be turned into a movie – it’s exciting, it’s feelsy, it’s epic! Six of Crows is my third favourite book of all time and is definitely an exciting, fantastic read.
I want to fall in love
I’m not the biggest fan of romance, but only for the reason that I don’t think it’s done right all that often. But don’t get me wrong – I love to swoon just as much as the next girl, and the book that did it for me was,
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Benjamin Alire Sáenz
If you can’t already tell from the title, this is a mega adorable YA LGBT+ novel that I didn’t expect to like, but ended up totally falling in love with. It’s an incredibly easy and short read for a quick feels hit ❤
(Not to mention the super duper pretty cover mmm <3)
I want to read something easy
This one was a no-brainer – the book I’m nominating for this category helped me through a pretty violent book slump. Despite how massive the book looks, this is because the format of the book is a collection of emails, pictures, logs, etc. This one is also in my top 10 list of all time and is of course,
Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
BONUS POINT: I’ve heard its just as good as an audiobook!
BONUS BONUS POINT: Brad Pitt is turning Illuminae into a movie!
Reading this is like watching an action movie. The format of Illuminae adds that extra layer of immersion. Despite switching from first to third person throughout the book, you can’t help but feel intense suspense throughout – even when you’re not in the viewpoints of the main characters. I love love love this one. Just go read it 😛
