Ah yes. What a fitting tag for someone who’s barely read anything in the last two weeks 😦
Have you ever re-gifted a book that you’ve been given?
Yes – though I don’t feel guilty about this at all! My darling mother bought me Cheryl Sandberg’s Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead when I first started my career in IT (so thoughtful <3). I read it, I enjoyed it, and then I passed it on to one of my best friends when she also just started her career because I thought she’d get a lot out of it.
I always tell my friends that if they want to get me a present, the best thing they can get me is either a book or some tea/coffee. If they get me a book, I’ll at least give it a go and if it turns out I don’t like it, I’ll pass it on to someone who might like it more. I don’t really think that’s anything to feel guilty about!
Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t?
Yes – and this isn’t just lying to my high school English teachers back in the day.
The most recent example is probably 1984 by George Orwell. I knew so much about the book before reading it that I was able to talk about it in some depth. I did end up reading it about mid this year.
Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?
Not that I can recall… I hope :S
Have you ever read a series out of order?
Yes – Terry Pratchett‘s Discworld. I started with Mort (which was fantastic) and moved straight on to Guards! Guards!
I did a little bit of research on the series before starting it because you can basically start the series with any of the 41 books in the series. A lot of sources recommended that I don’t read it chronologically so I didn’t. 🙂
Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?
Yes – I spoiled It by Stephen King for… probably my entire office. Before the movie came out I found out that noone at work at read it and I really wanted to talk about the ending… so I did. Everyone was pretty glad to find out that the movie didn’t finish up the same way but it made an interesting conversation anyway.
Have you ever doggy eared a book?
Yes – We were all young and reckless at some point in our lives.
Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?
No – I will always own up to reading Twilight and Fifty Shades of Gray. Can’t knock it until you’ve tried it!
Have you ever told someone you haven’t read a book when you have?
No – Again, same as above. You should never shame read anything! There are always books that will work with some people and not work with others!
Have you ever skipped a chapter or section of a book?
Yes – I used to promise myself that I would finish every book I started, and unfortunately that resulted me in having to slog through books that I really hated. This was the case with Red Rising and Red Queen – I really didn’t like the way both of these were written but I was curious enough to want to know the endings… so I skipped like a quarter of the book until the climax.
Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked?
NEVER – I’m definitely a fangirl. If I like a book I’ll blab on about it until everyone leaves me in a ditch.
