TAG | New Years Book Tag

It has been a hot minute!

Sorry for being MIA for so long, but as you can imagine, December has been incredibly busy! Hoping you, your family and friends have had a lovely festive season ❤

We’re currently a couple of  days out from the new year and I thought it would be fitting to do a New Years book tag! As always, feel free to do this tag if you’d like 🙂

New Years Book Tag

How many books are you planning to read in 2018?

I’ll be sticking to 52 again next year 🙂 I just landed a new job where I need to fly around to different countries quite frequently, so I may potentially get more in. I think a book a week isn’t a bad ask though 🙂

Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2018.

Oh man I have SO MANY for this category! Narrowing it down to…

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward
Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson (OMG!!!)
Warbreaker by Marie Lu

Honourable mention goes to When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

What a list 😦 I’m bringing all of these with me when I’ll be in the US next month (14 hour flight!!) so hopefully I’ll be able to knock a few out before then 🙂

What genre do you want to read more of?

This year was a year of discovery for me! I tried to dive into a lot more adult fiction and non-fiction and loved it! Hoping to keep it up next year 🙂

Name 3 non book related goals for 2018.

2018 will be a year of quality. Quality work, quality friendships and quality books! So as a result my goals will be:
Spend more time with family and friends | I’ve been off work for a week now and have caught up with so many people  who I hadn’t seen since last Christmas! I really want to focus on maintaining my relationships in the next year so that catch-ups aren’t just for public holidays
Work smart not hard | When I finally made the decision to leave my job, I became a completely new person. I’m a workaholic by nature, so I found myself putting a lot of effort into things that either didn’t require that level of commitment, or going the extra mile when people around me weren’t meeting my energy levels – which as a result always left me fatigued and grumpy. With my new employer I plan on sitting down with the team and trying to figure out the most efficient way to do things!
Don’t bother wasting time and money on unnecessary things | Largely the same tone as the above, but outside of work. I’m not someone who shops a lot but when I do it leaves a burning hole in my wallet. I’m hoping to be more controlled this year – especially because I’m saving to buy my first home 🙂

What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

Omg. Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I see so many people hyping this book and talking about how amazing it is and for some reason I’ve never really reached for it? I think I’ve had it sitting on my shelf for a few months 😦 I know I’d love it but I just have to get to it!!

One word that your hoping 2018 will be:

Adventurous
