Happy 2019 everyone! Hope you’re not all too hung over 😛 By the time this goes up, I’ll be lying on the beach at Queensland’s lovely Surfers Paradise (catching up on the negative tanning I did throughout 2018 ;_;). Let’s get to it and start the year off with a tag!
One | How many books are you planning to read in 2019?
Going for optimistic considering my absolutely appalling performance last year and locking in 52. Every year prior, I’d hit it with flying colours – I think that as soon as I get my schedule locked in, I’ll be able to fit more reading time in.
Two | Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2019.
Ugh. Here’s my list of shame:
Obsidio | Amie Kaufmann & Jay Kristoff
Only Human | Sylvain Neuvel
Name of the Wind | Patrick Rothfuss
Oathbringer | Brandon Sanderson
Sing, Unburied, Sing | Jesmyn Ward
Even just writing out that list, I couldn’t help but cringe at myself. All books I know I’ll love, all books I haven’t gotten around to. If I get to doing this tag this time next year and still haven’t read these books then… am I really a reader? Who am I?
Three | What genre do you want to read more of?
Definitely literary fiction. It’s a genre that really gripped me throughout the year but because I’ve already got such a long and established TBR, didn’t get to explore much of. What I have read of the genre has been fantastic and is really giving SFF a run for its money.
Four | Name 3 non book related goals for 2018.
One | Lose 5 kilos (11ish pounds)
Two | Get a promotion at work
Three | Hit gold on my frequent flyers account (lol – I travel a lot for my new job so I think this one’s a given)
Five | What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?
Again – Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I think I’ve had this on my shelf for more than a year now, and everyone tells me it’s right up my alley but I just haven’t had the heart to read beyond the first chapter! I don’t think I’ve been in the right head space for epic fantasy lately (evident by my mega lag in the Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson) so I’m not really keen to get into it if I’m setting myself up for failure. But I will read it!
Six | One word that your hoping 2018 will be:
Happy new year all you beautiful people. I hope the year brings you love, happiness and lots of reading time.
Your sparkly unicorn,
